Created Issue: MultipleMice Cursor below window(not on top) [5409]

Cursor of the multipleMice (red circle) is staying below window. Example, when i click on start menu, i can't see where my cursor is, because it is below the start window.

Hello everyone,

In installed the multi-Touch vista driver, most of things work great, but everytime when I click on the any letter from Table PC Input Panel, I got the echo of the previous letter. Anyone has the same my problem and what cause the it? Please help, I greatly appreciate.

Seems to be only the problem with multiple mice. TUIO works correctly.

What input provider are you using? Does it work correctly with multiple mice?

It is hard to get any support on this from Microsoft :( They don't answer on the forums. And delete my mails without reading them.

Hello,

When I use OSCemote on IPhone with multitouch (TUIO setup) on Windows 7 I only see one cursor even when I use two fingers on IPhone. In debug mode I see two 'Contacts' with two different fingerId's but apparently only one gets processed or sent through.
I want to show scale and rotate gestures in this setup.
Any ideas?

I also don't know many about driver development. This was my first driver :) I have used this 2 books: "Developing Drivers with the Windows Driver Foundation" and "Programming the Windows Driver Model" from Microsoft Press.

Hello Nesher,

Thanks for your information. I eventually got it to work. I now can apply mutlitouch on the Iphone and have it send these messages via the vista multitouch framework to a WPF application and scale translate and rotate an image. I will use this as a demo during the Windows 7 introductary session in a couple of weeks.

It seems that my knowledge on some lower levels details of drivers is next to unexisting. I downloaded the latest windows driver development kit in the hope of brushing up a bit but it is; as expected; not for the fainthearted. Isn't there something like 'writing a simple windows driver for dummies'? Any pointer in this direction is welcome.

Multiple mice is a default provider. Because without a cursor it is very difficult to use a mouse there is red dots.
TUIO normaly used with a multitouch table, that means you can see where you touch, and actualy you will cover the cursor with your finger. That is why TUIO does not have a cursor. But it still multitouch capable.

Fixed, thank you very much. This feeling is great. I'm not a coder, so when I figure something like this out, I feel very gratified. I mean, it's so simple. I love being smart! Only problem with this fix: You can't use it when you use a password to log into windows. Tested on windows 7 x64. Alright, ready? Take the attached file, and put it in your multitouchvista main directory. Right click>create shortcut. Click start menu>All Programs>(Right Click) Startup>Open. Drag the shortcut into this folder. Done. Yes it is that simple. What does the .cmd file read? Oh, get ready to knock youself on the head nesher. You'll be thinking "Why didn't i think of that" For weeks. The .cmd file reads "Net start DriverService" Please fix in next refresh, and give credit where appropriate.

Hi,

OK I see, but even if I don't see a cursor for each finger I press down on a multitouch device it should still be possible to realize with the Tuio inputprovider what can be done with the MultipleMice inputprovider. Or is this an incorrect assumption. Since the Tuio inputprovider is a default addin my guess would be that it also is able to provide multitouch features.

Actualy only multiple mice input provider has cursors (red dots). TUIO does not have any cursor. The crosshair you see is a normal Windows cursor for touch events. And because Windows has always only one cursor you see only one.

Hi,

Thanks for such a swift response. With cursor I mean the visual representation of the input device's current location on the screen. (for MultipleMice inputprovider these are red dots, for Tuio inputprovider this is a small crosshair)
When the input provider is set to MultipleMice, you see for each mice like device a red dot that can be moved around and that can be used in for example WPF. When I set the input provider to Tuio and I sent OSC messages through a Tuio enabled app (e.g. OSCemote on IPhone) that are similar to multiple mice cursor locations I expect to see a crosshair for each finger that I place on the IPhone surface. In the current situation I only see one crosshair, even when I make a gesture with two fingers. In debug mode I can see that the information for the two fingers are sent trough via Tuio (two 'contact' instances with two different fingerId's)
I must admit that I do not really understand the bridge between the vista multitouch framework and the Windows 7 multitouch driver, otherwise I could inspect the multiple mice provider a bit deeper.
